Chicago, IL -- August 1, 2015 - WYCC PBS Chicago is pleased to announce the debut of its new music series in partnership with the premiere concert venue, Mayne Stage. Music on the Mayne Stage, premiering Friday, September 11 at 9:00 pm on WYCC PBS Chicago, celebrates the energy and innovation of distinctly American bands. The eclectic line up ranges from power pop legend Tommy Keene to soul screamer Barrence Whitfield to Grammy- Award winning jazz saxophonist Frank Catalano jamming with Smashing Pumpkins’  influential drummer Jimmy Chamberlin.

Simultaneous to our weekly broadcast on WYCC, music lovers everywhere will be able to enjoy each program on YouTube.

Music on the Mayne Stage presents a fantastic exploration into the diverse traditions of American music. Each one-hour, high-definition episode has a feel and sound as unique as the performers themselves -- Nick Gaitán brings Gulf Coast/Tex Mex fusion, Miss Tess and the Talkbacks offer a sassy country take on rock ‘n’ roll and lePercolateur charms with their unique blend of Gypsy jazz.  In addition to high-powered performances, viewers are also treated to documentary style interviews with the artists who share their own intimate and personal musical story.  Following each broadcast, online bonus features on wycc.com offer behind-the-scenes extended interviews with performers as well as additional music clips from the concerts.

“WYCC PBS Chicago is excited to bring this fresh line-up of musical talent to our Chicago viewers,” says Paul Buckner, general manager for WYCC. “Our partnership with Mayne Stage allows us to maintain a strong connection with Chicago’s loyal public television viewers who value local programming featuring great music and that incredible, at-home concert experience,” he adds.

Music on the Mayne Stage gives viewers direct access to featured artists in an intimate setting where they perform inspired and entertaining, full-length concerts. The program is taped live before an audience on location at Mayne Stage in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood.

About WYCC PBS Chicago and Mayne Stage

With a nod to the historic past of its grand facility, Mayne Stage provides the perfect setting for a broad spectrum of live performers. The chic, throwback look of the Mayne Stage venue and its intimate performance space are showcased in a combined setting with Act One Pub, which allows for the artists and audience members to interact on a level not found at any other entertainment venue in Chicago.

Music on the Mayne Stage further highlights WYCC PBS Chicago as a leading local broadcaster capturing a broad scope of Chicago’s rich music landscape with performances for television audiences. This new series is being produced on the heels of WYCC’s 12-part blues series, Buddy Guy’s Legends Presents the Chicago Blues and the two-hour special, WYCC Presents a Special Evening with Buddy Guy that aired to wide acclaim in April 2014. In recent years, WYCC has produced Musicology, a 12-part series featuring an eclectic lineup of local musicians from the Old Town School of Folk Music and has produced the Emmy Award-winning special, Sounds of Diversity and eMotion, with the Chicago Sinfonietta.

WYCC produces a weekly lineup of broadcasts including Justice & Law Weekly, The Professors and In the Loop WYCC’s flagship news program featuring informative clip packages and in-studio guests that provide a fresh perspective on current news stories.
